Sorry, but not all injuries should be fought through. We all know that boxing is the "hurt" business, but I can't seem to stop thinking about the condition that Magomed is in, even Prichard Colon.

Yeah, I know, "If you're gonna quit at every sign of an injury, then you don't need to be boxing". I get it. However, if most of us arm chair fans are okay with the doctors stopping a fight when a fighter's cut is too bad, then what's wrong with the fighter saying, "Wait a second, something doesn't feel right. I may need to sit this one out."?

Again, every fighter shouldn't quit at the sign of the smallest injury, but I remember Magomed asking his corner between rounds, "Is my nose broken?", and they kept sending him out for more punishment. Who'da thunk that a fighter asking if his nose is broken, would've led to permanent brain damage?

terrible comparison. a chris arreola would get wasted by a fonfara and humiliated by a hopkins.

Joe Smith is a barbarian. Fonfara was a flash in the pan who built his little reputation by beating an out-of-his-depth Chavez, and getting dropped & beaten by Stevenson. He is 1-2 in his last thee fights. And don't act like Hopkins was not over 50-years-old (and coming off a loss where he was completely dominated) when Smith beat him. By beating those guys, Joe Smith has probably already far exceeded his potential, but luck doesn't last forever. His loss to Eddie Caminero was not exactly a fluke. By comparison, Chris Arreola went 26 or 27-0 before losing his first fight, to Vitali Klitschko. In fact, Arreola has only lost to former world champions. Arreola has also beaten a larger number of competent fighters than Joe Smith has.
I guess you are right, it IS a terrible comparison. Joe Smith is not even in Arreola's league.

Damn man, this guy is easy to root for. At first it seemed like he would just be a flash in the pan but hopefully he can stick around and become somewhat of an attraction.

Obviously being a white guy is part of the reason but really how can anyone not like the blue collar underdog who will fight through a fight with a broken jaw? He has a great story.
