Kind of feel bad for Smith. After knocking out fonfara and Hopkins, it would've been nice to see him get a more lucrative fight against someone like Stevenson. Instead Stevenson chose his ko victim while Smith had to take on a high risk low reward barrera. I highly doubt Stevenson taken on Barrera and a ward rematch is pointless. Maybe Kovalev but that may not be the ideal style to take on after 2 losses.

Ward and Smith dropped Barrera. Kovalev will finish him. Good fight though. Especially with Kovalev reeling after two consecutive losses.

They're both pretty old, but it seems to me that Kovalev is getting older in the ring than Barrera is. It seems like Kovalev is fighting like a guy with 60 fights rather than 30. It all started with Chilemba, I feel that was when Kovalev was not able to be Kovalev anymore. And Ward really just put a stamp on that, even though Kovalev was obviously very good, a top 3 guy, still against both Chilemba and Ward.

He says he overtrained for first Ward fight, now this Ward fight he blames low blows. I think it's just age. I don't know what his excuse was for Chilemba but to me it looks like his issue is just aging. Barrera vs Kovalev will come down to his farther away from father time. I think SB could take him, I see no sign that Kovalev will come in after 32 rounds with Chilemba and Ward and then be rejuvenated for Barrera? I don't see it. I called it, he's old and ready to be taken by Ward heading in to the rematch. I'm calling it again, Kovalev is old and it's him who needs to watch out from being taken out by the equally old but fresher-in-the-tryng Barrera.

Barrera is a big risk to anyone at 175. Stevenson, Kovalev etc will avoid if they can.

Barrera's a little ***** I would take him out in 69 seconds.

Definitely Barrera is among the top 5 contenders of the division. So he can talk as he wants. At least he talks and is not afraid to fight later, like so many others who hide on ****** reasons to avoid the real fights

fact is this: he lost to ward who was coming off bs fights and coming up in weight

fact is this: shabrasky was a hype job and joe smith wa a part time boxer

if barrera wanted to make noise it should have been with ward...the rest of this crap is just him yapping and beating B level or worse opposition

Barrera should be getting kudos in these comments, but I'm not surprised that he isn't. Took out Shabranskyy who people were saying was going to take over the division along with Beterbiev. He doninates Smith Jr who people were saying should get a shot at Ward or Stevenson. Yeah, the Beterbiev fight broke down, but considering how other fights have broken down for Beterbiev, I'm not sure how much to out that on them... Much respect to Barrera for taking on good challenges and staying active.....
