Shame that Smith's decent little run has come to an end. It was always going to happen here though.
Smith's last 2 wins have been life changing for him. But Fonfara will always have trouble against guys who can punch, as he doesn't move his head. And the Hopkins win wasn't even an upset really IMO.
Barrera is a step up from them two.
Hopefully Smith can bounce back though.Comment

Actually, over on another board there were some sensible Ward haters that actually said beforehand that Barrera was a very good test for Ward at 175. I actually couldnt believe they were being sensible.Comment

Ward now has 3 wins a row that are better than anything Golovkin will ever accomplish most likely.Comment

Average Joe fought average and got beat but good by the cuban
Average Joe can go back now to construction work and beiong average Joe again. It's over. How bad was old Hopkins then? How good is Andre Ward then beating Barrera with ease? Average Joe is AVERAGE.Comment

Marcus Browne won today and wants a shot at Stevenson, Barrera won and is now WBC Silver champion.
Browne vs Barrera, as the eliminator for next mandatory challenger, makes the most sense.
Browne obviously missed out on some money, but putting that fight as the co-feature for the next big card to come to NYC (at Barclays or Nassau) doesn't leave Browne with missing out on too much money.
Daniel Jacobs, Danny Garcia (though likely wanting another fight in Philly), and Deontay Wilder (with taking his next fight to Alabama being possible) are all due for fights that could end up in NYC.Comment

Not a bad win for Sullivan. He's a solid fighter. Not elite...solid. Entertaining guy to watch, comes to fight. I'm glad to see some of my lesser-regarded Cubans are doing well.Comment
