If Porter is not able to fight again this year, then this is the 2nd year he fought only once.

PBC got lots of fighters available in their stable.
TR only got a few. Apples and chicken.
Bradley has been in 3 superfights, not to mention a huge JMM win.
Therefore he's already swimming in millions of 100 dollar bills.
A PBC fighter gets overpaid and he's already thinking of retirement.
He doesn't even need a superfight and start fighting once a year.

Yes, unfortunate for us but these fighters have lives and Porter has his own family issues he's dealing with.

That's just the way it goes. Deontay Wilder was once the most active HW champion in the world until he got d*cked by Povetkin and then injuries. Jessie Vargas fought three times in 2014 and now has fought three times since and hasn't fought since God knows when. Errol Spence fought six times in 16 months to earn a title shot then had to wait almost year to fight for it.

That's just the nature of the sport.

Danny Garcia is overpaid? Tell me what you base this on.

He fought Salka didn't he? And got $700K.
Schaefer was offering $1 mil in the fight with Matthysse,
who was not even undefeated and seen as a hypejob by many.
Took a while for Schaefer to convince the Gift till he found a solution,
put him in the Canelo/May undercard where money is plentiful.
It was originally meant to be a separate card.
Garcia compromised with $1.5 mil. He wanted $2 mil.
Average schmoes would retire as well with that kind of money.

Newsflash: You're paid based on how many asses and eyes you draw, not based on what your opponent's record is.

So who else is fast approaching one-fight-a-year status this year?
By this time we should be seeing fight schedules for November or December.
Gift fought twice last year. He fought Guerrero and a last minute tuneup fight.
This year he could be breaking his 2 fight/year record and goes for only one.

Any announcement from the Danny Swift camp?
It's almost October. Is the Rios fight happening or what?
What about Porter, Spence, Berto, Peterson, Diaz, Williams, Charlo MW, etc.?
Seems they're really following the one-fight a year tradition.

Well he hasn't fought since early March of 2017 and I'll say this. If Danny wants to remain relevant, then he is going to have to stay more active and get back into title contention as soon as possible because if he doesn't he is going to be very hard to find.

He will be lost in the shuffle and become a forgotten man because he is no longer undefeated and is currently title less. In addition, the welterweight division is so loaded with great matches and talent right about now that for the most part, the boxing public doesn't really appear to miss him all that much.
