Here is a gif of 48 year old former WBO HW champion, Ray Mercer KOing 33 year old former UFC HW champion Tim Sylvia in 8 seconds.

Although in fairness the difference between MMA & boxing at the higher weights isn't as big as boxing fans probably think. There is a ton of standup & there are some MMA guys that virtually never go to the ground. HW boxers could DEFINITELY go into MMA & have an impact there vs those standup type fighters that dominate the divisions. Obviously the Werdum's (a Brazilian submission specialist) of the MMA world would present problems, but with the sprawl game of some figthers are so high level these days its harder to get a fight to the ground then its ever been so a boxer with some strong sprawling skills could EASILY become a top ranked UFC guy.

That said UFC HW's don't make money like their equals in boxing so f#ck that sh^t til that changes.

PNo one demanded this fight. People demanded mayweather vs pac. People demanded canelo vs ggg no one demanded this **** and you know it. Look through my posts I'm not anti mayweather at all but he's talking bs here and you know it. If the people were demanding anything it was for mayweather to fight someone like Thurman or spence not this circus.
        Two questions and answer honestly.
        1. Would you fight this fight for 100mil.?
        2. Are you watching the fight?

I don't agree with Dana White that it would be a quick win for McGregor in the octagon. If a highly skilled pure boxer avoids the grappling and punches an mma fighter flush, it's lights out for the mma guy in most cases.

            1. Me personally? I'd fight this fight for a fraction of 100 million. Bro if he said "I'm making this fight strictly for the money" I would completely understand. But don't act like the fans were ****ing on your door begging you to make this fight. I've got nothing against the man making money I've even said before I don't really mind I see this as a glorified exhibition fight since he's retired but please just cut the bs

            2. I'll watch because my friends will get together and watch it somewhere but no way am I paying for it.

This fight makes a ****load of money I get that so I understand why it's being made. But it's definitely not something fans were demanding like may/pac or canelo/ggg. Even kovalev vs Stevenson had more demand from the fans than this. This is a money grab plain and simple but money makes the world go round.

Fair dos. The only boxing/UFC fight I remember was James Toney getting his ass embarrassed. I guess couture was smart enough to know he had to go to the ground. I didn't know UFC heavyweights traded more often than not. Against a boxer that's definitely insane as they knock guys out clean with way bigger gloves

Try watching some UFC card next time you hear of some HW's fighting on it, There are plenty of entire HW fights that are standup boxing matches (without shoes lol) basically. As a guy who's been watching MMA since UFC 1, & a guy who doesn't have a lot of patience with ground fighting til this day more often then not, I can tell you MMA has taken to be more standup oriented in the last 4-5 years then its ever been.

Look at a guy like Conor McGregor who every boxing fan knows by now. He's a guy who pretty much sucks ass on the ground & is probably gonna struggle with any BJJ blue belt or better caliber guy damn near & is dead to rights to any BJJ black belt. He can excel in MMA today like arguably no one ever has with a elite level standup game + a good sprawl game to avoid being taken down & a good scramble ability to escape from the wrestlers who can take him down, but not do much after that.

And there has been a ton of MMA guys into boxing & boxers into MMA its just that they are lower profile guys so no one cares. Matter of fact this cat named Michael "Venom" Page who's kinda being labeled as the next Jon Jones is supposed to be making his boxing debut (allegedly on a DiBella card) in the near future. And female boxer Heather Hardy just made her pro debut in MMA a week or two ago too. And there are dozens & dozens of examples further back in history. Its much more common then many boxing fans probably think.

the ref's job is to protect Jr like say in the Hatron fight.

This scrap with pillows will be so boring that people will want to throw the red out of the ring. How much is showtime paying the judges and how much is jr paying the ref we don't know but the circus is coming to town !

                    1. He has said multiple times that its money & entertainment.

                    2. If it brings money the demand came from somewhere right? Regardless, you will watch with your friends & probably have a good time, enjoy.
