I'm just trying to decide how much money to put on Floyd.

Honestly, do people really believe that Connor would destroy Floyd in less than a minute in the octagon? Conor is mostly a striker who likes to stand. He isn't going to try and take down Floyd off the bat the way Couture did to Tony. The fight starts on their feet where Floyd could easily counter Connor and hurt him just like Connor could catch Floyd and hurt him. Just because Floyd is a boxer doesn't mean he can't throw an elbow or a kick as well. More than likely I see Conor getting frustrated by not being able to catch Floyd like he's used to catching other guys and taking him down in the clinch and trying to beat him on the floor.Comment

I will be honest. On paper this fight does nothing for Floyd's legacy. But as far as an opponent that you know nothing about, and cant study(we know Floyd is lying about not watching tapes) its the unknown.
And Connor is smooth af with his movement. He fights identical to Floyd, without the flawless defense of course. But the way he stands in front of you and has that velvety rhythm, and when you attack he either counters, or jumps to the side, or jumps back, and gets right back in front of you just like Floyd. And I seen him getting tagged in sparring, but I also noticed that he has phenomenal punch output. Like Floyd, he sticks his fist wherever your head is going to be. Everytime you get out of position, his plan is to have you run into a punch and it doesnt matter what hand he has to use.
Of course Floyd doesnt know any of this. If people are assuming Connor is going to stand flatfooted and get picked apart, they are wrong. It will be like Floyd facing a taller, lengthier, LESS SKILLED, version of himself.
Not saying Connor is going to win, just saying this is a tough fight because Floyd doesnt know all of this about Connor.
And even though he was getting hit in sparring, I saw the potential. Maybe that clip was released when he had just jumped in the ring untrained? And what if he improved onto that!? He is smooth af.
So I watched an interview from one of his sparring partners. And he said that he had tons of am fights, and Connor was something he had never seen before. Everything I figured, is what he had said. He said that Connor's movement was beyond excellent and commented on Connor's speed. Saying "Its not like he is lightning fast...But his timing...he punches when you least expected and it catches you off guard. I have never sparred anyone like Connor before."
Again, Connor is not Floyd but he has studied Floyd, you can tell. And the unknown scares me a bit.
Im not superstitious, but Floyd NEVER fights solely for money. He fights when its in his heart. He apparently saw Connor as an easy 100m fight, even though he himself is not interested in boxing anymore, and simply made the fight. And he always fights on May and September. But they just threw this together, for the very random date of August. Its not at the MGM, its at a completely different place that is not home to Floyd. Its T-Mobile.
And the way people are underestimating Connor like its a whitewash, when not too many people are talking about how tricky he is, is creating unease for me.
It will be a bad look if Floyd is thrown off and never finds a rhythm, and loses to this guy. Because Floyd looked terrible against Berto who is a bum. And I think Connor would outbox the shat out of Berto for a good 8 rounds, and possibly gas out later.
I just dont want to see Floyd lose to an "easy" opponent...Last edited by MurkaMan; 07-16-2017, 07:37 AM.Comment

If you pay attention,I flatout said that beating Connor does NOTHING for Floyd's legacy. I noted that on Paper Connor is a bum. But as you can see from my comment, I actually did my homework on what Connor does. This cat is smooth af, and I seriously feel that this is a legit threat. If he loses it wont be like "You lost to a dangerous opponent"
Its going to be like "You lost to a am fighter who has never boxed before" Opposed to assuming, go and do homework and see that what I say is true. I feel that boxig would look dumb if Floyd, who is 40yrs old, lost to this kid who is pretty damnned goodComment

That is promotional talk. Same as him fighting giant young kids who were half his age and twice his size, then he says "If I can fight bums and make money, thats even better" But when he was making those comments, he was actually fighting guys that he shouldnt be able to beat do to size, and age.Comment
