I remember seeing that a few days ago - that this fight was scheduled for 10. I had a WTF moment then. But yep, it was 10 rounds originally. Not sure why they put 12 on there.
If Joe Smith in fact knew that this was a 10 round fight then that was a very disappointing final round from him
We're watching the same fight right? Count the number of hooks he threw so far? 1? 2? Even the commentator just mentioned Barrera's 1-2. He's got a good jab, the same jab he marked up Ward with. Outside of that, he's got no tricks, and he throws nothing but straight rights and an occasional uppercut. He's not a great ring general either. Watch his feet, very little lateral movement, all back and forth, staying in the center of the ring. Can't corner Smith at all. And he's slow as molasses, can we agree on that? Ward embarrassed him when they fought, Barrera looked like he was operating in slow motion.
And I don't think Shabransky was the favorite, was he? That dude struggled heavily with Gonzalez.
Yes, Shabranskyy was the favorite.
It looks basic to you, and probably to some others watching it on film. Then when they get in the ring with him it's a much more difficult style to overcome. Happens often, people just can't see subtle things that make a fighter very difficult.
