Throw Canelo in the ring with him and let us know how he fares..oh wait that ain't ever going to happen and it'll be behind the "He's a Haymon fighter" excuse. Hell Lemieux could've gotten him on the undercard too, did he want it? NOPE.
that old "aint never gonna happen", i heard that several times already, and canelo has fought them all.. cant say the same for ggg, in fact if we go by abel sanchez, canelo-jacobs is more probable than ggg-jacobs 2...

Nothing like anyone Canelo has fought, Canelo is a shortass, Golovkin will break him down no prob
And has a Khan Chin... On paper Jacobs has more power. But in a fight they hit each other their hardest??? Double KO. Or most likely Canelo gets Bambi-legged BIG TIME and Jacobs goes nite-nite.

It was just that his resistance, especially to body shots was less than Canelo's.

Canelo is nowhere as near as mobile as Jacobs, but his upper body movement is better. Golovkin just needs to pursue and jab and counter the counter - see what happens.

Canelo needs to set traps for Golovkins right and counter left hook to Golovkin's body - GGG already gases and will gas more if his body is under constant attack.
God DAMN!!!! FINALLY someone who doesn't spam and knows SHT about boxing....

Your right! Canelo has a GREAT 1-2 footwork but suks at the cutting/chasing 3-4/5 footwork. He has GREAT head/upper movement and handspeed... HE needs to set traps for GGG just like you said. Then back up and reset up.

Thanks for the compliment - I have been watching boxing for more than 40 years now so hopefully I have seen something. I have 3/4 posters on ignore but I could probably notch that up to 20 or something and get a better quality discourse.

You made a VERY good point about Canelo's footwork which I think I intuitively knew but hadn't really rationalized. The other day some poster said [actually many say it] that Canelo has crap footwork. That's not what I see. He moves in and out of range very quickly - the 1-2 footwork you mention - the sidestep to his left to plant the liver shot on Smith happened in a blink. He had to plant and time Khan. But as you mentioned his 3-4-5 and closing the ring is not his strong point.

He and his excellent team probably know that he is never going to be as athletic as many boxers and the more his career develops the more they know it, so he maximizes what he is good at - body/head movement (see how he made Cotto miss), 1-2 foot-speed and fast hand speed+combos.
