That is completely RIDICULOUS.
FLOYD AND EVERYBODY ELSE IN BOXING TODAY, WHO IS NOT A HEAVYWEIGHT, OWE OSCAR DE LA HOYA, AND ONLY HIM, THE HUGE PAYOUTS NON-HEAVYWEIGHT FIGHTS HAVE TODAY.
FYI, and this is boxing 101, any real boxing fan knows this, DE LA HOYA WAS, AND BY A LONG SHOT, the "A side" and the one who attracted 80% or more of the audience, for that fight.
Oscar De La Hoya ended up earning $52 million, Floyd Mayweather earned $25 million for the fight. If you can do math, you will realize that De La Hoya got 67.5% while Floyd only got 32.5%.
De la Hoya IS THE FIRST NON-HEAVYWEIGHT BOXER to have generated millions of PPVs ever. He made history, NOT YOUR IDOL FLOYD.
That useless boxing pest Floyd only took advantage of what De La Hoya created all by himself: an attraction in boxing, meaning millions of dollars, for boxers in the welterweight category, even above the heavyweight fighters.
So DE LA HOYA HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, NOTHING AT ALL TO THANK THAT FLOYD BUM FOR. IT IS THE OTHER WAY AROUND MISTER, GET YOUR FACTS CHECKED UP.
The Floyd-Manny bout the fight was split 60/40 between the fighters, Floyd obviously got 60% because the fight took place in the U.S., and he was supposed to be the "A" side. Had it taken place in Asia, particularly China or the Philippines, the share would have been the opposite.
So again, your ignorance shows. Floyd did NO FAVORS to Manny. Probably it was the other way around. Just check the PPV number for Floyd's previous fight vs. Berto, it was pathetic. So both fighters needed each other.
As far as Floyd-Canelo, again, the pest Floyd did no favors to Canelo, it was the other way around. Floyd was to make $41.5 million guaranteed, Canelo $5 million. I really don't know what the final numbers were, but that is a 90/10 % split in favor of Floyd. I really don't want to waste time checking, but I am pretty sure Canelo made more money fighting Cotto, Khan and Chavez Jr. than fighting Floyd.
So you are absolutely wrong in your comment. Floyd did no favors to anyone and he is the biggest pest boxing has ever had, by far. De la Hoya is the guy who lifted up boxing, from being an almost exclusively heavyweight division millionaire-PPV sport, to a sport where way lower weight classes, specially welterweight, could finally have access to millionaire purses.
Please get your facts straight next time you try to claim that your hideous running-hugging cowardly "fighter" has helped anyone, because he hasn't. It is the other way around. And, to boot, a lot of people who went to the Floyd-Canelo fight, actually were more interested in the Danny Garcia-Lucas Mathysse fight, and they couldn't care less about the "main event" afterwards.
