Comments Thread For: Bellew: I Know I Can Beat Andre Ward - I'm Too Big, Too Strong!

Former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has no doubt that he will defeat Andre Ward, who right now is regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport. Both boxers are coming off big career wins and now there are actual discussions taking place to match the two fighters.

    Asleep, probably.

Seriously, if he can't cope with Adonis he can't cope with Ward.

Haye looked appalling. He's giving himself way too much credit for that win.

i agree stevenson almost decapitated him but he was not as strong at that weight! I wonder how much that will matter against ward who will be the smaller man!

"To big, to strong" Funny Haye said the same thing, could be eating his own word here.

If cruiser Ward wins hands down, if heavy it could be a much closer affair. Ward could easily tire down the stretch with all the extra weight/muscle he'd have to pack on.

Ward without doubt is head and shoulders above Bellew in all aspects, and I'd pick him to win whatever the weight if I'm honest. Heavy would be Bellews best bet to snatch a win somehow though.

What would that make Bellew if he beat Ward? Not much. LOL. A guy who managed to beat someone who is significantly smaller than him. Although Ward refuses to, he could still arguably make 168. Bellew beating him at CW wouldn't mean much for him. However, Ward beating Bellew would say a lot about Ward, which I would favor Ward in this fight.

Few things: The Haye fight was irrelevant. Not only was Haye on one leg, but we don't know how good he was after he came back from retirement. The Stevenson fight doesn't translate here. Bellew was drained and he wouldn't be against Ward in a CW fight.

Well, you're arguing that he could ... but based on what? He looked large against Kovalev, he himself says he can't make it plus he and his team are focussed on moving up and not even staying at LHW - so what exactly are you're arguments that he could make 168?
