They signed a contract and agreed a date for Smith to fight, it's the Dirrell's who are messing him about, a fighter can't put his career on hold forever. Purse bids were won on the 5th March. It shouldn't take this long for them to have a date and venue sorted.

If Eddie had won the bid the fight would have probably happened last weekend.

Far be it from me to stand up for Hearn, he's a toss bag, but he's a good promoter and business man and this tournament potentially pits Callum Smith against George Groves for the WBA, which is a much bigger fight than the Dirrell match.
Tony Bellend has only fought ONCE outside the UK in Canada, James Degale is a Al Haymon fighter and is always off and on with Eddie the Snake Hearns -- truthfully he only hangs around him for tickets to UK events and he doesnt even get them according to videos from Kugan Cassious.

Lastly this is a blantant duck by Callum Smith -- I mean if an American decided to fight in Nuttingham and the venue is changed to London you think we would care?! its in the UK so yeah Eddie Hearn is at it again.

This is a really good fight and it probably needed a belt to get made but it's still BS to be that the WBC have allowed this... no real reason to have two vacant titles being contested.

Ugh, what a nasty idea at Dirrell being a 2-time champ. Unlikeable family of scumbags.

Aye, Bellew was Canada, my mistake, but it's still away from home.

DeGale wasn't a Haymon fighter until after he beat Andre Dirrell. Hearn has still been his promoter since.

With Team Dirrell we're not talking about one venue change and date change here, we're talking about multiple.

It's not a blatant duck, this is hardly Adonis Stevenson signing with Showtime to avoid Kovalev. This is Smith who became mandatory in 2016, who had to wait for DeGale and Jack to fight, then for Jack to vacate, then wait for purse bids, then wait for Team Dirrell to decide on a date, then have that date pushed back twice, then finally sign a contract for the date and venue, and for Team Direll to move the goalposts yet again and change the date and venue once more.

Why would he wait around for a fight which never looks like it's set? Suppose next month the Dirrell's say they want to move it again? Where does it end?

The Super Middleweight boxing series is a great opportunity. Look what the Super Six did for Carl Froch, it made him into a star. Even if this tournament doesn't have all the best SMWs in, the opportunity is there to pick up some fantastic prize money and a shot at a world title, potentially against George Groves which would be a huge fight in the UK.

why dont dirrel and benavidez just join the tournament and have that as their first fight? oh right cause dirrell is a B and didnt want to join because he knew he wouldnt be able to get that a-side super six treatment like ward did. he wants to control everything to maximize his winning chances

So you say Eddie has been 'Chunkys' promoter yeah? last time I checked Lou DiBella, Yvon Michel (GYM Promotions), Jean Bedard (Interbox) Leonard Ellerbe (Mayweather Promotions) have been the promoters for his fights since Dirrel.

And another thing: you see these events as a bad thing in reality Jack would of been a harder fight! if they told me as promoter that we get Dirrel I be happy ( if I had confidence in bum Callum ) , and like I said the venue excuse is BS because its in America either way - I never heard of one American complaining about a particular city in the UK OR a date I mean Pulev and Ortiz will be waiting for Joshua for how long now?! and yes they both been complaining to the sanctioning bodies but are not moving...

you lot are so spoiled and privileged I can only think of Hughie and Joshua passing up on WBC titles and get to cherry pick the champions they wanted to face.

But you know....this is looking pretty pretty good for that slimy reptilian Eddie Hearn because I been evaluating the level of competition in this 'World Series of Boxing' tournament at 168 and I come to the conclusion its not as deep as its counterpart the cruiserweight tournament so Callum Smith might be given an easy fight in the preliminaries like : Rob Brant whos he? Anvi Yilidrim ha? Brahemer...Ok...Jamie Cox?!!! BUT wouldn't it be funny if he left a guaranteed shot at a world title and takes a L before getting to George Groves -- then again hes a Brit so that fight is bound to happen anyways...yep these Brits have it easy.

Bandera Roja got this in the bag. Direll is durable but nothing special IMO. Benavidez looks like could be a star.
