"But being a champion, and just bending over like that and thinking the referee was gonna do something about it, it was not a good idea."

WTF? Well what's the refs job then? That makes no sense. Yea Ward was in control after the straight right hand but he didn't legitimately stop Kovalev in my opinion.

Pity that in pro-boxing it became somewhat acceptable. And I fully agree that he should have thrown at least one or a couple shots right back there.
I hear ya. Can't teach an old dog new tricks. Pity. The only way to deal with dirty fighters is to give it right back, with interest if possible.

Definitely. If he plans to go to Cruiser or Heavy

Damn, I completely forgot about Ward hitting Barrera low and getting a point deduction.

Andre Ward's left appears to stray low. The referee takes a point off Ward for "a vicious, low blow".

Crazy isn't it, when it's debatable that a referee is expected to do his job and actually ref the fight?

But in pro boxing it's part of the so-called strategy, and it's a bit pathetic that it seems to be somewhat accepted.

Its not accepted in the pro game and has led to numerous point deductions and dqs even, its just accepted when the house fighter is paid to win.

As Ward was coming forward head low and head first, Kovalev jumped backwards and threw a shot towards the body... So this only pic of what seems to be that is actually just an illusion from this angle...
So if that punch lands and hits Ward low. Would it be considered intentional? I mean Ward was bent over heavily at the waist.

I appreciate pure boxing, but this IS a fight also, and if someone wants to get dirty, then you get dirty back.

WTF happened to all of Kovs tough guy persona?? He is such a tough guy, that instead of retaliating with a low blow of his own, he whined like a b i t c h!

                    Ward beat that a s s Period!
