Talking about his guaranteed $50 millon dollar contract for 3 fights that he signed with RNS. The Cotto-Canelo fight is the only fight that RNS made a "PROFIT"

That fight Cotto's guaranteed purse didn't effect them because it was a major PPV success and gate success.

... Cotto wasn't guaranteed $50m for 3 fights though; Miguel Cotto Promotions and RocNation had a partnership agreement, allegedly worth $50m, that included 3 Miguel Cotto fights and a large chunk of money dedicated to RocNation promoting concerts in Puerto Rico with MC Promotions.

Can't remember the breakdown, but $20m to promote concerts and $30m for 3 Cotto fights isn't a bad deal.

Are you serious! It's been a long time since a Golovkin show failed to sell out. He's sold out both coast and in UK, and in Europe.

Ward can't even sell out at home in Oakland.

If GGG had a show with 90,000k arena in his country they'd have to build a bigger arena.

Comparing ggg v Ward in popularity is like comparing eating dirty to eating pie.

Ward couldn't sell out in Vegas with another top p4p fighter.

When has Golovkin ever tried to sell a $1000 ticket to a fight that he was the lead horse on? Selling out a venue isn't all that difficult if the tickets are priced well below what the market asks for other big-time fights.

First, the same sources disclosed the Ward fights. Second, and there are two ppv tries by Golovkin. Loefller says first did 150k second 175. Neither was with a p4p fighter that was a hotlet contested rematch.

GGG v Kov sells out Vegas. Hell, ggg sales out everywhere he goes.

Ward had to give away tickets in Oakland.

No one likes Ward, he's a fake out of the ring and a cheat inside.

Price the fight at what the market commands, and convince the market place that your fighter is worth the price commanded by the attractions.

The fact that you simply assume Golovkin and Kovalev sells out, when Kovalev couldn't even sell 2,000 tickets, is laughable.

No idea what the business on the Geale fight was, but RocNation basically got the full MGM Resorts site fee, plus most of the US PPV (which generated at least $50m). Beyond that, "buyout" of the deal is unlikely to be as simple as that (especially with the concert piece of the deal).

Andre Ward will only be returning to Las Vegas for the likely Adonis Stevenson fight or the possible Tony Bellew fight, and that's fine.

Any other fight that can be made for Ward (Cleverly-Jack winner, likely Beterbiev mandatory, Joe Smith Jr, etc) will be held at Oracle or Barclays, at regular big-event prices ($2m-$4m gates are possible), with a PPV baseline of $4m in net revenue (Ward's TV situation is unclear, but a move to Showtime/CBS likely puts enough money onto the table to not force PPV)

The Cotto-Canelo fight was at Mandalay Bay, the MGM Grand was unavailable at the time.

When Cotto was released earlier this year from his contract, it was for an undisclosed amount. I'm going to guess he at least got $5 million. We will never know the number for sure. I'm just guessing $5 million or so.

Yeah, if Ward can get to Roy Jones level draw that's not bad. He's pretty close to Roy Jones level right now.

Here's an article on it. Actually Cotto signed for $55 million including the $5 million dollar signing bonus to the $50 million.

It states that Cotto with the contract would earn between $15 to 17 million per fight for 3 fights, comes out close or equal to $50 million total.

Great on Cotto for taking that deal and taking advantage. On the otherhand RNS overpaying their stars.

I think haye bellew did about 700k if rumours are to be bellieved which is close to 12 mil and they sold out the 02 arena which is 20,000 seats. Did the second fight really generate a gate of 2.3 mil from only 6366 tickets sold?

Ward is an American gold medal winner. The onus should be on him to sell tickets.

Yup, these stated numbers seem to be legit with average ticket price being about 360$, which is not so bad. They didn't price out and start giving out tickets 2 for 20$ just to fill up the place. Too bad about the very low PPV numbers, the promoters failed miserably there.
