We always hear that Manny can easily make 140, or even 135. But I've always felt that was a little blowing smoke. I mean, he's been fighting at welterweight for nearly a decade. I'm not saying he can't make the weight. But I'm not sure at his age, and with his outta ring schedule, making 140 is something he's interested in doing.

I don't think 140 would be a problem. He was 141lbs a week before the Bradley fight and 140lbs before the Algieri fight.

He was 141 one week before the 3rd Bradley fight and Bradley was overweight at 153.

153 is pretty much on schedule for a guy the week before hitting the scale at 147. Manny putting on 5lbs the week of the fight sounds crazy to me. Even though its pretty much maintenance in camp at that point, I'd imagine its pretty tough to gain 5lbs fight week, and not show affects from it on fight night.

It Is pretty crazy, that's why I think 140 would be better suited for him. I agree that trying to put weight on the week of the fight and performing up to his ability would be difficult.

Pre Scripted Speech

The whole thing was a bit fishy. The ref did a terrible job not warning Horn for the excessive clinches. Further, it was kinda funny to see Horn reading from a pre-scripted speech after the fight. Honestly, I don't know if winning did any favors for Horn; welterweight is pretty stacked right now.

What was funnier was the length of the speech. My wife looked at me and said, "He had to write that short speech down?"

Manny is doing himself a disservice by even dignifying this thing bull****. Manny won the fight. Either way, this is a perfect time to go ahead and bow out. Manny can't beat the top welterweights out there. He could possibly drop down to 140 and fair a little better. Either way, his days as an elite fighter are done. He'll fight on, they always do. But it would be nice to not have to see an ATG like Manny legitimately lose to a bum like Horn, maybe someone worse.

I don't think he should quit just yet. He won this, Bob just skroo-ed him... yet again. He should get a good lawyer, leave Top Rank, go elsewhere or just be a free agent. Bob will keep ripping him off more and more, and Manny doesn't need to waste his time with that b.s. And he certainly doesn't deserve the disrespect from greedy azz ole Bobiot. Manny has said he can drop down in weight easily. If that's true, he should try it, and the power will return.
