10-8 rounds scores need to stop

it baffles me why people score a round 10-8 despite there being no knockdown, i don't care how dominant someone is i will always give the other guy credit for staying on his feet. if u cant floor him then its not 10-8, simple.

this **** needs to be scrapped.

Nah a super dominant beatdown round should be worth more than a round edged to either fighter.

Naw it makes a lot of sense. Better to give a 10-8 round in that situation then if someone got a flash knockdown but wasn't hurt at all.

Agree. And 10-10 rounds need to be used much more.

I agree. If you can get 10-8 with no knockdown what's the incentive to fight back and stay on your feet?

Just take a knee and recover

10-8 rounds are a good idea. 10-9 scoring doesn't always give a true picture of some of the rounds. The 10-8 scoring isn't used enough.

wrong. The 10-8 round would actually help stop bad decisions from happening.

I can't remember an official judge scoring a round 10-8 without a knockdown.

Agree with OP, it's used too subjectively by fans. It's less subjective to determine who won the round than how much they won by imo.

Imo the whole boxing scoring system needs to change.

                    Scenario A.
Having a very close round (i.e 19 vs 20 punches landed) and the judges swing it to one guy = 10-9

                    Scenario B.
Having a round where one guy totally beats the other guy down (i.e 5 vs 35 punches landed) but doesn't drop him = 10-9

That is just totally messed up. They have to start looking at the whole fight in general. Because by current rules the guy who had 7 rounds of scenario A gets 115 pts whereas the guy who gets 5 rounds of scenario B gets 113 points so it's 115-113 but totally not winning the fight.
