  • Comments Thread For: Pacquiao's Getting Older (But No One's Proved He's Old Yet)

By Cliff Rold - This Saturday, current WBO welterweight titlist Manny Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 KO), he of the record eight title claims combining lineal and sanctioning body crowns, will attempt the second defense in his third WBO reign at 147 lbs. While the fervor he once attracted around the world has ebbed from what it once was, the crowd in Australia won't look like it. There should be somewhere around 50,000 fans at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, the most since he faced Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito in Dallas in 2010...

Horn will be the one to prove it. He wont show manny any respect, especially how manny disrespected him by text messaging during their presser. D

If you are a fair person you would root for jeffery horn to win by ko. Its almost destiny he was once bullied and became a fighter, and then a teacher, thats an unusual story in boxing and it is what will get whites to be attracted to the sport, because many whites couldnt relate to thugs like manny who stole cigs and donuts and ran with gangs as a kid in manila.

Horn has the youth, power and hunger on his side

I think he beats most but not all. Personally I'd favor Spence & Crawford. I'd favor them two like 60/40 over him. I may even favor Keith over him...although it would be close. I may even go 50/50 on that.

I agree with Spence and Crawford beating him but I think Pacquiao beats Thurman.

Yeah the more i think about it I think I'd still lean Manny. Even at 38. A prime Manny decimates a prime Thurman any f**king day, and at 38 I'd still lean Manny something like 55/45 or 60/40. Keith's power though is a tough obstacle to navigate -- even if Keith isn't the same KO machine he was earlier in his career. The power to me is still top shelf. But if Manny does a good job of minimizing Keith's power shots, then even at 38 Manny likely beats him to a decision.

He's going to fight Mayweather again, all the other guys don't sell or have big fan bases.

I agree with a prime Manny destroying a prime Thurman. I think he would knock him out within 9 rounds. I would actually favor a prime Pacquiao against all 3 of them. Keith does have power as you mentioned, but even today's Pacquiao Is still so good on his feet that I don't think that Thurman would be able to catch him with anything relevant.

Oh absolutely. Although I may have to reserve judgment on Spence until more of his story is written. But prime Manny against the Spence that beat Brook? Prime Manny beats that Spence. And so far, as elite as Crawford has been, he has shown me nothing to indicate that he'd ever f**k with a squarely in his prime Manny Pacquiao. Hell they'd have trouble with a 39 year old Manny. They may beat him at this point but it damn sure wouldn't be f**king easy.
