Conor's only chance is too jump on Floyd. Come out swinging and hope for a miracle. He's 40 with 2 yrs inactivity he might have a .5% chance (being very generous) of landing something huge.
Forget about pacing, forget about setting traps and so on and go balls to the wall. He has to risk getting knocked out or gassing - he don't have the tank anyway.

Anything else is pointless soon as Floyd finds his range and timing its target practice.
He practically found his range and distance vs Manny instantly and he's far more unorthodox than Conor.

He has minimal boxing skills he relies on wrestlers with zero experience against southpaws overcomitting. Its the same counter over and over he's a one handed, one trick pony there's not even any variation but he's big and has some sort of power there.
He has the smallest window of opportunity.

It goes without saying, or maybe it needs to be said for the uninitiated, that if you want to have any chance of beating Mayweather you have to be able to control distance as well as he can. Bare minimum.

There have been fighters like Maidana and Castillo who both did an excellent job of closing the gap using different methods (JLC punching his way in / Maidana bum rushing his way in) but ultimately neither was quick enough or agile enough to make an emphatic difference.

Zab was fast enough on his feet and he gave Mayweather fits initially but he didn't have the kind of focus and consistency required to make it count over the full course.

If you had a fighter with Zab's footspeed and JLC's pressure and accuracy you might have something.

The key to Mayweather's greatness is that he's as good as they come in all major departments but beyond that he has mongoose level reaction times waist down. He's an Allen Iverson level athlete.

Want to see the guy who would have eaten Mayweather's lunch? Watch Robert Duran in his first fight with SRL. That's Floyd's worst nightmare.

Conor McGregor is about the last guy on Earth who has any chance against Mayweather. He's way, way, way too slow on his feet and in transition. He'll look like he's moving under water, without exaggeration, when this fight happens.

No one tool to beat Floyd, but a special fighter can beat him. I can see Hearns, Leonard, at 147 beating Floyd. I see Duran in the light weight division. Fighters like Floyd, your not gonna beat them by looking for something to exploit because its not there, you have to beat them by being better than them.

Easy to beat him, just drive in head first for a double-leg takedown, wrap arm up and proceed to punch him in the balls till the KO is called.

That was something. Indeed. Nobody on Earth realized what a gulf of separation there was between Pacquiao and Mayweather athletically until they were feet to feet. As I've said before Manny looked like he was on ice skates trying to find Mayweather in the dark with a flashlight. Distance control is serious business.

That said, if Pac tried that and failed, then no way in hell is a hypejob that lost to nate Diaz going to pull it off.
This is why he says one of his toughest fights was Augustis , the dude was so weird and unorthodox he posed a lot of problems. Connors only chance is that he will be a bit weird and unpredictable.

Even though I won't be buying this farce, I look forward to reading the reports afterwards that say Mayweather countered him for 12 rounds. It'll be death by 1000 paper cuts.

Agreed. Same with Maidana. It was apparent immediately that those chopping punches were throwing Floyd off. After he adjusted though....
