Carpe diem, carpe diem. Sometimes it makes sense in boxing for fights to "marinate" 6, 8, 12+ months but there's always the chance the fight will fall through and often times circumstances change.

If the promoters can get a Rigo-Lomo fight done this year then they should do that. There's no certainty in waiting longer.

Yeah, i'm not against a guy avenging a loss.
I think Loma really out-classes him this time around, but if he felt he wanted to put that loss right, then i wouldn't blame him.

Could give us a chance to see how Rigo looks at a higher weight before they met.

Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux is not a fight that really needs to happen, considering the weight difference. These days Loma is probably just under 140 in the ring, whereas Rigo allegedly never strays far from the 122 limit. It would be cool simply to see these two legends square off, but make no mistake it's not a fully fair contest

Assuming Rigo's talk of going to 130 is real (and I'm not entirely convinced it is), he won't be taking any other fights at that weight. It's a one-time deal, specifically for Lomachenko. As for a Salido rematch, it would be nice, but not necessary. I have a feeling Vasyl feels the same way.

He should just take the fight. Who cares if he loses. High risk/high reward.

I don't think this is bad idea honestly, but I feel the same way about the Rigo fight as OP does about the Salido fight, if I doesn't happen now it might never happen imo.

Of the two options I would rather see the Rigo fight tbh.

I think Loma vs. Salido is a foregone conclusion at this point with Loma having more experience and growing into a new weight class while Salido has been through a few FOTY wars and is getting up there in age.
In reality it means very little, but it looks good on paper to have that L officially avenged. Even though it's really for cosmetic purposes I think it should happen. Pay Salido his rightful purse and let Lomachenko paint job his ass en route to a mid round stoppage.
