I know there are some people out there who think Ward should go for Stevenson, considering that he has the last belt. However, Stevenson's reign is exactly why belts don't matter much anymore. For as long as he has had the belt, he hasn't fought top competition, so it makes his status as titleholder less relevant, in my eyes. This is exacerbated by the fact that Ward had already beat Dawson before Stevenson. If Ward-Stevenson happens, cool. If not, cool. The fighters make the belts and Stevenson just hasn't made that belt relevant... With all that said, I want to see him fight Bellew or join the Super Series Tournament. If Ward can win that tournament, his ATG status goes up significantly. He is already a first ballot HOF...

The top guys want no parts of Stevenson.

Take away 50 y/o Hopkins and Ward..Kovalev's resume is even worse.

Rather than fight Adonis...Hopkins fought Kovalev for less .

But we know that you will not :

- fight Stevenson (you won't like his straight left... )
- fight Beterbiev (who will simply pulverize you both outside and inside) ;
- fight Gvozdyk (because you know that he's even better than Kovalev now..)
- fight Bivol (too green but also too dangerous for too few reward...)
- fight again Kovalev (who won the first fight and was victim (in the second) of the baddest stoppage of the decade (at least...).

Bottom line is Stevenson wanted the Kovalev fight and was ducked...Now he wants the Ward fight and it looks like he's going to be ducked again.

These are just the facts folks. They're clear as day unless your emotional and/or easily fooled.

Ward has basically said he ain fighting Stevenson unless the money is right. Just like there was a wait and see period for Ward Kovalev II, there will be one for Ward Stevenson. It's premature to say either fighter doesn't want it.

The money will be right....but Ward won't fight.

Care to elaborate? Wouldn't Wars just keep Stevenson on the end of his jab. Take away the left hook body shots from a low guard. I mean outside of punching power what makes Stevenson special?

Stevenson is explosive and fast.
You just can't keep him at the end of a jab...he's too unpredictable and awkward.
