If Horn is the draw I think he is, 80 million Filipinos will watch.
The fight was only announced on ESPN a few days ago, can't say how much interest it will generate by July 1st...I don't even have ESPN haha...so although I'm in support of this being on "free" tv, I won't be able to contribute. (I don't watch any other sport, I didn't even know I didn't have ESPN until I tried to go on the channel after the Pac-Horn announcement). If TR continues to bring marquee fighters to the network then getting ESPN won't be any issue. For this fight I'm streaming (in HD bro, don't be ridiculous), or going out elsewhere to watch.Comment

I haven't seen much promotion for the fight yet, though I don't watch that much of ESPN.
Curious to see how hard they push it this week.
Now that the NBA draft is over, that should clear the way a bit for it...but then, it also probably limits the number of people tuning in to the ESPN networks, as well given that it's now the offseason for the NBA, NHL and NFL.
My guess is the fight does 3-5 million.Comment

unless it is on espn 3 it's not really free. i get basic cable [plus hbo and showtime, only for the boxing,] and i don't get espn.
hate this fight. respect what bob arum did in the past, but that was a long time ago. pacquiao hasn't been promoted like the genuine article until he arguably lost to marquez in the third fight and started to slow down.Comment

This is such a hard one to predict. Because it's such a mismatch and Arum waited so long to announce a TV date 12 days before the fight. Not much time to promote it. The highest rating for PBC on ESPN was 1.2m viewers for the Leo Santa Cruz/Mares fight but they had months to promote it. Thurman/Collazo drew 800K, Danny Garcia/Paulie drew 1m viewers after those 3 fights the ratings were in the 400K range. Just off name value alone Pacquaio alone should do 2m. NBA western finals games drew 6.3m on ESPN. If they had announced the TV agreement 8 weeks ago I say this fight does almost 4m. Now I think it does between 2-3m.Comment

I'll be viewing if only to support the idea that superstars can fight up-and comers as tune-ups, as long as its not on PPV. Not every fight needs to be Wrestlemania.Comment

Bob and I have the same number...
Bob Arum: "ESPN is going all out to promote the event. We're looking forward to an audience as large as 10 million in the United States and maybe larger.... it will dwarf anything Manny Pacquiao has done in the United States in the 15 or 16 years that he's been fighting."
Ten million viewership on espn for a fight that only has a few days of promotion is absurd.
Some nba games dont even get that much ratingsComment
