Why are people calling ESPN free tv, are they ******ed? Seriously, still have to pay for a basic cable package, it isn't free.Comment

I think because It Is part of most peoples cable package and not a premium channel like HBO and Showtime where you have to pay extra for them.Comment
-
Considering there's almost no buzz for this fight and most Pac fans jumped off the bandwagon a long time ago, I think at best it'll do a little over a million viewers.Comment

Whatever the number is i will watch it beacuse iknow it will be an exciting fight with no running and hugging and the best part it's free.Comment

Define "no way it does good" in numbers, assuming you are better at ratings then I am of course.
Although Pigeons brings up a good point about the holiday weekend & it will have an impact on the upside I'm sure now that I think about it. For some reason I was disassociating the 2nd of July fight date from the 4th of July holiday weekend.
If anything they should be fighting Sgt. Sammy on 4th of July weekend & try to parlay Sammy's military service into some mandatory fight watching on that holiday or some sorta angle like that that seems more appealing then a Filipino vs a Aussie on an American holiday.
The only people who might watch are at the bars, and they wont even watch because isnt it the same day as the All Star home run derby for MLB?
This fight is not going to do good numbers at all. No promotion, horrible date july 4th weekend, and MLB all star week.
It will do good in Australia, I heard its projected to do 100,000 to 130,000 ppv buys In Australia that is not bad since Australia is not a boxing country, Boxing isnt huge there.Comment

Bob and I have the same number...
Bob Arum: "ESPN is going all out to promote the event. We're looking forward to an audience as large as 10 million in the United States and maybe larger.... it will dwarf anything Manny Pacquiao has done in the United States in the 15 or 16 years that he's been fighting."Comment
