And don't even put Ward and Mayweather in the same category. Floyd has a great defensive/counter-punch style. Ward relies on pushing the boundaries, bending and sometimes totally disregarding the rules.

I've been watching the sport since 1986. The fact is, even the most skilled fighters have the tendency to be boring at times.
Rigo is a perfect example.
Loma is a highly skilled fighter who is actually quite entertaining. He has an amazing offense and defense, and throws punches in bunches without being reckless. He's a pure pleasure to watch.

Agreed. An exciting loser is still a loser. Ward does what it takes to neutralize his opponent even more so than punishing him. The sweet science is half hitting, but the other half not getting hit. Unfortunately most fans love the game winning goal but don't appreciate the defenseman swiping the pill. I love good defense and these three have it in spades.

There's a rhythm to how Mayweather fights. The boxing display he put on against Canelo was almost zen like. I acknowledge Ward is skilfull and I'm not schooled enough to see the intricacies of his style, but personally I don't feel entertained watching him.
