According to a report out by Kevin Iole of The Las Vegas Review Journal, James Toney could be next for Wladimir Klitschko.

Kevin Iole reports that: manager Shelly Finkel said he's working on a fight for Klitschko against James Toney, probably Nov. 11 in New York.

If that fight doesn't come off Finkel said unbeaten Calvin Brock was also is in the mix.

Iole's report also states that Hasim Rahman, the WBC champ, would have been Klitschko's first choice for an opponent, but Rahman faces Oleg Maskaev on Aug. 12... a date that could easily conflict with a fight in Novemeber.

Old news but they even have a date scheduled now, news courtesy of maxboxing.com

I'm gonna go ahead and say, no way Toney accepts a fight with Wlad. I'm a fan of both fighters, but Toney has to know he will get KTFO by Wlad if they fight.

this fight really isnt a "heart transplant". its wlad klitschko (who should be unifying the titles) against james toney who has had two shots at the HW title and blew them both.

i like toney, i almost loved him for handing the bum ruiz such a humiliating ass whooping. but the steroids, the draw with rahman, and the pathetic weight gaining has seriously diminished my view and level of respect for him.

toney needs some more wins before he gets a 3rd HW title shot.

That doesn't apply here as far as I am concerned.

Rahman is not on Klitschko's level as a fighter man, and you can't compare the two situations.

Rahman is a hesitant plodder who unleashes a right hand once every three rounds and throws a meaningless jab.

Klitschko is a boxer puncher who throws combinations every single round.

.....If this one comes off it will be Toney's farewell fight. He is going to cash in his chips with this one and roll off into the sunset after receiving the beating of a lifetime.

listen genius, it doesent make a good resume unless you win the fights... get it???

by your logic the best resumes in the division belong to guys like andy sample, marcus rhode and steve panell

i mean how can you deny it, panell fought ruiz, rahman, wklitschko, botha, mercer. what an awesome resume!!!!
