Agreed. Prime Jones never gets hit with that shot. Too elusive. He just wasn't the same after going to heavyweight. It was obvious in the first Tarver fight. I happen to think that the historical accomplishment was worth it in hind sight but it's hard to justify Jones' decline from how amazing he once was.

I have always said that a prime RJJ was the best fighter ever seen with our own eyes as opposed to old film.

And you could certainly make a great case for him as GOAT.

This thread has led me to see that Roy is listed as 5'11 on boxrec and Wiki.

Is that correct? I always had him in the 6'2" kinda range. Tall and lanky.

            Charles cleans him out imo

Unbelievable boxer. Was showing some guys from work a highlight vid of his and they were open mouthed. They loved the behind the back ko

His biggest problem is that his resume isnt as good as he was in the ring. Thats not necessarily a knock on his resume as he pretty much fought who he could for the most part, but the guys who he gets compared to all time have much deeper resumes.

Charles didn't have the skill set to beat Jones at his peak. Too one dimensional even if that dimension was really good. It took a lot more than power and combinations to beat Jones.

Just my opinion though. Charles was big.

                  Charles one dimensional?

Jones fought and easily beat the two other best fighters of his era (Hopkins and Toney) and unified the LHW division. Not to mention went from Jr. MW to winning a heavyweight title. That's pretty impressive as far as resume's go.

But, like you said it would be hard to have a resume to rival a skill set and ability of a RJJR at his best.

                    He was simply unbelievable.

So Hopkins pre prime (great win though) and James Toney already looking out of shape and struggling with his weight?

Again, great win. But does it even come close to the amount of top level wins other great LHW's have?

Guys like Charles, Johnson, Moore, Tunney, Conn, Loughran have layers on layers of HoF level opponents and wins. Greb also from MW to LHW has an astonishing resume.

Also, saying he went from JMW is stretching the truth. He weighed in at the weight once in 74 bouts, and not at any sort of level, from what i can see on B'rec
