1. Agree.
2. Pertinent question: will his defense negate GGG's offense?
3. I doubt he will stay in range to fire 4 or 5 punch combos.
4. Agree; but he lost or looked ordinary against these better level opponents.
5. Counter punchers always beat pressure fighters?
Never seen Canelo hurt, so his Whiskers might tell the story in this one...
Forget Hopkins vs Trinidad, I see this more like a Trinidad vs vargas in terms of back and forth action but without as many knock downs since ggg an Canelo seem to have better chins.
Good analogy. Maybe a knockdown each.
I reckon that fight you mentioned shortened Vargas' career by couple years.

it definitely did shorten vargas career. He was poised to do some big things. He had already beaten (closely) winky Wright and convincingly beaten Ike quartey. He was just shy of his 23rd birthday when he fought a prime tito. Probably wasn't the best career decision but he gave tito hell and his toughest fight up to that point. Seeing what happened to him is probably the reason why golden boy chose to hold off on Canelo vs ggg up to this point.
I'm pulling for ggg and lean towards him to win but, this fight is much closer to 50/50 than what I considered it to be a year or so ago. Based on their styles, it's not going to be an easy fight for either and both are going to take punishment. Okay I'll buy that.
I see this as a very close fight with Canelo's boxing ability and counter punching earning him a close victory.
But it's a great fight that either fighter can win.
It's really a 50/50 fight.
