Or should illegal shots be illegal in all circumstances and points deducted for their use? What do you guys think?
If future fights end with shots that arent legal within the queensbury rules, is this now allowed, or was the ward kovalev fight just a one off where the rules can be bent just this once...
Where do you draw the line? For example would it be okay to finish a fight via an elbow or headbutt if you thought the momentum in the fight had changed? Or is it just punching a boxer in the testicles that is acceptable in these circumstances?

Just look at the AJ - Klitschko fight there was a moment in the fight where AJ looked like he was gassing, had the ref stopped it prematurely we wouldn't have had that amazing 11th round.
Then with the crowd going crazy, Eddie Hearn grabs the mic and says .. "Calm down everybody .. AJ was already done when he got hit below the belt .. it really ain't that important"

Lol at comparing an unintentional foul in ggg lemiux fight to 3 successive low blows by ward
I keep seeing people regurgitate what the hbo commentators were saying .."kova was done from the body shots". When a fighter is badly hurt to the body to the point of being unable to continue they go down. Kova didnt go down from any legal punch

Yes the context in which the punch occurs matters. It tells you how relevant the illegal shot was to the stoppage.
The last punch AJ landed on Klitschko was a rabbit punch, does that invalidate the stoppage?Last edited by BrometheusBob.; 06-23-2017, 03:32 PM.
