Comments Thread For: McGregor's Coach: Many Respected Boxers Have Offered Help

John Kavanagh, head trainer of UFC superstar Conor McGregor, says their phone lines are being swarmed by well known, experienced boxers who are willing to help the MMA star prepare for the biggest fight of his career. McGregor will step foot in a boxing ring for the very first time, as a fighter, when he challenges five division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs) in a boxing match.

No one can help him. And that last paragraph that "if he KO's Floyd in the first round there may be talks of rematch" is laughable on every level. First, he'll never KO Floyd on any day, second, even if he landed the luckiest of all lucky punches and pulled it off, no way would Floyd want a rematch.

I think Conor's best bet would have been to team up with Robert Garcia and adopt the Maidana blueprint for smothering Floyd and making it a rough fight. Take him out of his comfort zone. If he tries to box Floyd this will be over in two rounds or less.

I call BS. When may fought pac Haymon & Ellerbe en$ured there were no sparring partners in sight. Oh well though, Conor could have a floyd clone as a sparring partner & catch Ls on the daily.

If Sugar Ray Leonard, Hagler, RJJ & the ghost of Ray Robinson help Conor can that really impact a fight in 2 months & 3 days?

"If he goes in there and knocks out Mayweather in the first round, there will probably be talk of rematches and stuff like that." Now, I don't claim to be an expert on such things, but methinks Kavanagh just may be talking a wee bit out of his arse.
