The foul proof protectors they wear make it nearly impossible to heart someone with a low blow. You would literally have to bring a punch up from so low as to move the whole damn thing up. This did not happen. These things are tested with baseball bats! When these guys role around from low blows, it's just an act. Not to say a low blow shouldn't be recognized/penalized; but writhing in pain from one is just plain bull. I boxed for many many years, and have been hit low my fair share. I never reacted like that, and I didn't even wear the full protector that Ward and Kovalev wear. Kovalev was clearly hurt several times from legit body shots, not to mention the right to the head. Furthermore, look at where Kovalevs protector goes up to. It's clearly much higher than his navel. The referee even noted this on both fighters prior to the start, saying that blows on the beltline of the trunks were fair game due to the height of the trunks and protector. I do believe he should have been given a count as the ropes held him up. But there's not really any controversy in this stoppage, at least not to the point that the outcome would ever be in question. Good fight from both guys and the best man won. Ike out.....

I'm not saying that Kovalev beating Hopkins makes Kovalev some kind of ATG.
I'm saying it gives Hopkins motivation to act like a bitch towards Kovalev.
Add to that the fact that Hopkins is racist, and that he is one of the dirtiest fighters on the planet.
So we have a boxer who:- Is butthurt over losing to Kovalev
- Hates white fighters
- Is notoriously dirty
Trying to defend a black fighter's dirty fighting against Kovalev.
I still can't think of a worse person to step forward to defend Ward.Comment

you could ignore him, and listen to one of the many other insiders who are saying the exact same thing?
..... here, Eddie Hearn was just quoted, and he is White.....
Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport was getting flashbacks last weekend, while he was watching the rematch between Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev. At the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Ward stopped Kovalev in the eight round after hurting him with a right hand and then landing numerous shots to the body, which promoted referee Tony Weeks to jump in there and stop the fight. Ward retained his WBA, WBO, IBF light heavyweight titles.
you guys made a fair point about the stoppage, but it is highly unlikely that decision had any effect on the outcome of that fight
time to move onComment

Sure, there are plenty of other people out there who are commenting, who have more credibility on this issue than Hopkins does.
Since this thread is about what Hopkins was saying, I was focusing on his credibility. Which, on this topic, is terrible.Comment

I need bleach for my eyes after reading this post. No offense, but judging by your childish insults and the frequent use of 'lol', you are either very immature or someone with an IQ score below room temperature (in Celsius). Either way, you are completely clueless about Russia. If you compare the Russia's democracy pre fall of the wall til now, and American's level of freedom and protection from tyrannical government during the same time period, you lose this argument terribly.
They moved toward freedom, and we have moved away from it.
If you want to narrow the time frame and look at the last 20 years, yes, Russia has started to go the wrong direction again.
Compared to Americans losing their freedoms though, we have fallen much further, and much faster in the last 20 years thanks to bush 41/43 and *****.
Chechnya is predominantly ****** you goof troop. Why isn't your ******ed ******* brain blaming ******s for the treatment of gays there?? O yeah, that would be racist. Lol
As far as ****sexuals go, Islam has THE worst treatment of gays and women worldwide, and they are the ones trying to bring sharia law to the west. I don't see Russians setting up communities across America and the West trying to bring their ways here. O but wait, they hijacked the election. Lol smh. Leave it to a brain dead ******* to blame the white people.
As far as state sponcered doping, again, leave it to a cuck, limp wristed ******* to rail against PEDS. This might burn your ****** ears, but nearly all athletes uses some level of PEDS. I don't agree with using PEDS, but Russia is NOT alone.
And lol at you quoting a new york times article on the treatment of gays in Chechnya.
The new york times is full of that BULL*****, and you can throw them in with the Washington compost. Lol
About the topic in question, I do not agree with Bernard Hopkins - the stoppage was very early. However, I feel that, despite Kovalev's and his team's protests, Sergey is actually very pleased with the stoppage since he was on his way of losing the fight, and this is coming from a Russian.Comment

Sounds like sour g****s on your part! It's time for you Russian/Ukrainian rejects to get over it and stop whining. Cryvalev got his ass handed to him and that's all there is to it.
