Prime Hopkins was a much better fighter than Ward... His dirtiness was creative not just blatant fouling (although he did a lil of that too)
    Goid post.

Prime hopkins wouldnt have had much of an issue with kovalev

Funny, I think this concept would have been laughed at a year ago when people here were declaring Kovalev GOAT @ LHW.

As far as prime Hopkins goes, tough call. Kovalev's struggling on the inside wouldn't bode well for him, but that power and crisp speed is always in issue, for everyone.

32 year old prime Hopkins. Look at this dudes pace, aggressiveness, defense, inside/outside offense. Kovalev would get stopped just like this young undefeated tough as nails Glen Johnson did.

Prime Hopkins might have beat the rusty Andre Ward we saw in the first fight but prime, not rusty Ward would stop prime Hopkins or win a wide decision.

Reread what I said. Hopkins was well known for being a little dirty. If you've ever seen him fight he fought with 2 hands, his head and shoulder. It would of been an ugly, dirty fight cause Ward isn't going to put up with it. Ward is faster though.

Hopkins. This fight didn't change my opinion.

Ward (prime, not rusty) would still win a wide decision or stop Hopkins.

Ward knows all of those 'old school' tactics, he employs them himself when he has to.

Also, Ward is better, faster, and smarter IMO and Ward is the one who hasn't lost a fight since he was 12 and is an olympic gold medal winner. Hopkins lost many fights.
