Comments Thread For: Now That Mayweather is Active Again, Canelo Wants a Rematch

NEW YORK A potential second fight against Gennady Golovkin wasn't the only rematch mentioned to Canelo Alvarez during their press tour. Now that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has come out of retirement, even if it's for a mismatch against a mixed martial artist, the hope among some within the boxing industry is that Mayweather will remain active after August 26. If the 40-year-old superstar chooses to keep boxing after fighting Conor McGregor, an early-May return would be likely.

I think he wants to keep making $$. Not sure if much of his money is in investments at all. I don't think he's getting a big return on what he does have.

I have him beating both GGG and Canelo again.

You thought that because your bias, how the hell could he have aged gigi by signing to fight him a yr later,& besides you act like after he vacated there was any time they couldve fought since then, gigi is the 1 who wanted more $$. Already hedging bets & making excuses I see, shows gigi fans know deep down gigis a hypejob.

I think the $100 million tag will bring him back in to fight the GGG - Canelo winner at 154 (for Canelo) or 157 (for GGG).

He's hoping it's Canelo imo. That's why he keeps saying his name. But I think it's in his plans.

The numbers attached to that fight are really big and we know he only ccares about $ at this point. Don't know if he'd beat GGG but he'd likely win against Canelo again.

Well, its closer to a year and a half, since this fight should have happened May 2016 rather than Sept 2017. When you're 34 or 35, that year and a half is quite a difference. Believe me, I lost a step by time I was 33, and had lost another one by 35

Hold on. Let me set you straight on your edit. I'm only making a joke. I'm not making any damn excuses. Golovkin is going to beat the sh it out Canelo. No age excuse about it. You won't hear any excuses from me before or after the fight. GGG is going to win

You need a hug dude lol I don't think Canelo waited for GGG to age, but the fact is, he is older. I personally think it won't matter, as I have GGG stopping Canelo, but he is older. It's definitely not important for this fight imo. Excuses will be unacceptable after this affair, barring a freak incident.

A judge gave Canelo a draw. Floyd aint risking his record on some paid off judges.
