Steele got a TON of stick for that fight for yeaaars, wrongfully so IMO.

It doesnt matter if there was 0.2 seconds left, the amount of time left should not come into the reff's mind, the only thing that matters is whether Taylor responds to steeles instruction, he did not respond and therefore it was rightfully waved off.
Your response is the thing that's most irritating about how that went down. The fact that he didn't respond is the line they used to sell the BS stoppage. The look on his face said he wasn't that hurt. At that time no one knew what the aftermath of the fight would bring. Maybe he didn't hear the question who knows. But that was a very long time ago.

being a long time ago means nothing considering there is decent footage of the fight, it was hardly fought in 1912 in grainy black & white was it

why so mad, did you have money on the fight or something lol?
      and who the **** is ' they ' ?
he didnt respond to steel's question, was glassy eyed as *** and was looking at his corner, he had no idea where he was mate. good stoppage.

Was just debating this stoppage last week with my brother. We go back and forth on it. Sometimes I think it was awful, then other times I'm like it was the right call. But it's definitely not clear. He had that fight won. That was literally a case where the ref tool the fight from one contestant.

It's just bizarre to see a stoppage by the ref so late in the contest.

This Ward stoppage was early but it saved Kovalev the embarrassment that was coming next imo.

Don't remember that. Is this author showing their bias here a little bit?

Last punch seemed low, fair enough. But by that point Kovalev was curled up like a hedgehog, so you can hardly blame Ward.

Second to last punch was borderline at the very worst.

Third to last was clearly above the waistband.

Yes not all three were low also Kovalev was reacting to body shots like low blows for the last couple rounds.

Just like how the gassed out and heavily dropped AJ should of been stopped to save him from what was coming V wlad eh?

sorry but thats an extremely weak and silly logic to justify an extremely terrible and shamefull stoppage.

As for Taylor - Chavez, i agree the first time i watched it, i was like wtf. but i actually think steele made the right call.
Im not sure who the promotion company was, but im guessing chavez was the A side, was the reff stopping the fight at the first chance he could to save the A side from certain defeat?

I dunno, Steele looked at him very clearly and closely, asked him are you ok, no response, so what can he do?

Ok, so be it!...What a wrongness towards Judah in his Mayweather fight then!!! How masterfully caught he Mayweather with perfect "borderline" shot. Just one "borderline" shot - not a combination of them - folded Mayweather who stopped defending himself, doubled over and "turned his back to his opponent". Cong****, Zab, great inside game, you broke him mentally and physically!!! Unfortunaly, referee acted unprofessionally, he gave Mayweather several minutes to recover and robbed you of deserved KO victory

You got that right, this dude was buckling to shots to the body after that massive head shot. He was gassed, hurt, and defeated before any questionable low blow occurred.
