Whyte is nothing special but if he ends up fighting another Gerald Washington type or Stiverne rematch it seems a bad idea to turn down £3M for a fight like this. Did he already get the cash from the Povetkin lawsuit? I guess if he's already sitting on over £3M from that he doesn't feel the need to take the risk of being screwed on the road for the sake of a fight like this.

LOL since when? They have AJ and a bunch of marginal, fringe contenders at the same level as Washington, Breazeale etc.
People, nobody cares about hyping up Wilder to the UK fans. The UK fans are going to watch AJ fight Wilder anyway a la Hatton or Bruno. The fight will be in the US. It makes zero sense to sign a deal with Showtime, then when you fight your biggest potential American opponent, have it in the UK. That's literal idiocy.
Wilder wants US based fights with people the American people have more than a 1% chance of knowing at this point. The mission is MORE US exposure, not less. Ortiz, Stiverne, at least people know who the **** they are here. Why fight Hearn's scraps at 2PM in the afternoon in the US, when you're trying to build your name? The endgame is a massive payday with AJ, probably in Vegas or Barclays. This crap fight does nothing for Wilder. He doesn't need blast out Whyte to get an AJ fight. Everyone already knows he's going to fight AJ. It's THE fight people want to see. This fight does absolutely NOTHING for him..Comment

People saying Whyte isn’t on the level of Wilder.. Is wilder some major A side with a killer resume?? NO. Wilder is around the same level as Whyte.. maybe just a slight level higher.
God knows Whyte hasn’t done anything to deserve a title fight.. but the only other choice is Stiverne who deserves the rematch less!! Wilder was getting exposed and beat every round against Washington and got rocked by Molina so don’t make him out as some super elite fighter whose levels above guys like Molina. When you’re levels above Molina you dispatch of him in 3 rounds like AJ did.Comment

He should get that Stiverne mandatory out of the way, then see what the landscape looks like. I hate that that fight is hanging over his head and will need to happen sooner or later. I would much rather that be done and over with than put off only.
That fight sucks but the longer than lingers on only makes that garbage rot worse.
If everyone is tied up later on then Whyte sure stay busy with that, that is a terrible fight but that money is not going to really go away as long as Wilder keeps winning setting up the Joshua fight is not going away especially if Joshua is busy. What is the rush to set up Joshua if he needs to fight Wlad then Pulev?Comment

Since UK fighters took over the HW division. Since all the big pay days for HW fighters are in the UK. Nobody gives a **** about Wilder in America, how long has he had that title now and his viewing numbers are still pathetic? He's a bum hunter that won't even travel to fight a B level fighter for a massive pay day. Wants everything his own way.
Unless Joshua turns into a PPV draw in America soon, Joshua-Wilder has 0% chance of happening in America. They aren't going to drop PPV sales by having a fight at 4am UK time to fight on regular Showtime.Comment

I read that Whyte and Hearn were going to fight Wilder in the U.S., not the U.K.
They would have to fight at Barclays Center or in Alabama. The UK can broadcast it as a PPV though it would be a 2:00am or so in the morning PPV for the UK.
