From the training camp, Ward looked bigger imo. I say we give him the benefit of the doubt that after Kovalev 1, Ward and his team knew what to do about the weight. IMHO, I think there was a 5lb differential from either the drain or rehydration. Ward looked slightly bigger than the first bout. Rather, not as cut as in bout 1, so I don't know if to call that comfort... but he looked more natural in the ring, and coit's it made a difference.
Second, that speed on the back jump or better intuition where Kova would land. Kovalev looked sloppy in his timing. I dont know if Kovalev looked more horrible than lay because if the camp or intimidated by ring IQ in the second bout, but Ward's defense was way better than the first one.
Third, Ward imo had about a 15% increase in punching power to actually let go vs he first time. Kovalev would've literally knocked himself out had he not stepped back from Ward's incoming combos from that badass right cross to the chin. Either Ward was stronger or he was just letting go that we didn't see in bout 1... or call it offensive confidence...
Fourth, body work like a Spence Jr. just rolling uppercuts to the body straight forward or on the side of the ribs..
It's quite obvious what happened. No Kovalev opponent had the IQ and skill to demolish Kova's body as the Krusher himself would do mince work of his opposition, therefore, Ward took Kovalev to a level he's never been before. Who in Kovalev's resume has had double digit stats hitting his body? NEVER!!!!
