  • Why are there no great white-american boxers?

Most great boxers today are either african-american, white-european, or mexican. Yet in recent times seldom do we see a white dude from the US make it big in boxing.

Only decent ones I know are Chris Al*****i and Chris Van *****den and they both suck.

Why are there no great white-american boxers from the US??

In a few minutes from now those two little red blocks under your username will turn into a whole row of them. Just give it some time, it's coming.

      The usual answers.

-- Whites don't come from the lower socioeconomic background that most boxers share. No anymore.

-- Whites don't have the cultural, community background in boxing that African-Americans and Mexican-Americans have. They aren't part of the boxing community on the neighborhood level.

-- Whites lack "fast twitch" muscles.

-- And these days, there's MMA.

Brian Sutherland was the last of a dying (or dead) breed, truly the last great, transcendent white boy boxer of the sport

Given what he did, there's nothing left for white American boxers to prove.

LOL. And Loma's like the fastest dude in the sport. Try again.

                Chris Algeri
                Paulie Malignaggi
                Glen Tapia

Is Paulie the most successful white American boxer of the last 15 years? It's either him or Pavlick.

It's true, you'll see "fast twitch" in the smaller white guys sometimes. You don't see it much above LW. Calzhage had that quality, though without any power.

Loma is quick and twitchy, but well trained, knows where to move his feet. The former soviet system is robust.

OP is talking about white americans not white europeans.

White fighters in America would rather fight in MMA it would seem.
