    1) Weeks could have DQ'd Kovalev for turning his back on an opponent

    2) Ward could have KTFO Kovalev, and he should have

    3) clearly, Kovalev was done, and looking for a way out

    4) despite those three factors, the usual cry-baby's are out in force

Why did ward stop hitting here? Kovalev was clearly hurt. Was he telling the ref to save Kov? Was he thinking Kov was hit low? And why did Kov turn his back here? Did he want out? Was he hurt to the ribs?

These are the questions that came up when watching it.

        "no excuses"

says who? keep those excuses coming. skys the limit indeed.

hires a special russian coach for conditioning.. gasses out in 3 rounds. makes sense.

threatens to end ward's career, break his hands and ribs.. ends up pleading to the ref to save him.

the krusher is no more. that boogeyman aura is gone forever.

Duva has NO chance whatsoever - Ward has been anointed as the chosen one and can never be denied, he will use a chainsaw in his next fight and still win on a SD.

he immediately saw that Kovalev was faking a foul

Ward put his hands up as-if to say, wtf ?

he should have drilled Kovalev, but he held back

            suxx

a bit unprofessional, but Ward was the guy in there, and he has great instincts

maybe he felt he didn't need to risk any controversy in case he dropped Kovalev and Weeks called a late foul..... possibly giving the fight to Kovalev

            not sure

easy to say in hindsight I suppose, but Ward should have finished him then

this is just a standard NSB cry-a-thon

the fact that the last punch slipped low, is a technicality

              reason being.....

              1) Weeks knew that Kovalev was DONE
              2) Kovalev turned his back on Ward TWICE in that round
              3) he was badly hurt by the bodywork/right-hand
              4) he was faking fouls, and looking for a way out

but yea, let's ignore all that and pretend like it never happened

              sleazy NSB " lawyers "

trying to get their client off on a technicality
You are absolute correct, in those situations the truth come out naturally about the personality of people involved, Kovaleva, his manager, his promoter, his friends and fans, are a bunch or sore losers hypocrites liars! but Don Turner said after the fight that Kova was a fighter not a thinker!

And the referee was probably tired of all Kovalev BS during the fight also; fake low blows & turning is back when hurt, rabbit punches etc

One of the greatest thing in boxing is when a boxer beat someone who hit harder than him, specially at this level, so a big thanks to Andre Ward who is probably one the "mentally's strong" boxer ever, and one of the smartest too, and because of his inactivity between 2013 and 2015 (3 fights in 4 years) he was at maybe around 85% of his full potential into the first Ward/Kova fight, and around 90% this time!

Well to be honest with you i was a bit shocked with Kovalev's antics. His body language says it all for me at the end of the day.

He didn't look like he wanted to go on, he was content at that point for the ref to stop it. The fact that he didn't protest the stoppage also add to it for me.

At the end of the day Ward was just the better fighter and he showed that towards the end of the first fight and in the second fight.

If people want to look for excuses then thats them. Kovalev is a ****y fighter in the ring, a big bully and he enjoys the physical aspect of boxing, so to see him folding, wobbled, hurt against a fighter that kovalev claimed hits like a girl must have put a massive dent in his ego.

I really do hope he isn't affected mentally by the loss, physically i think he recovers but mentally the damage might be bigger.

I didn't agree with the stoppage but excluding the low blows Ward fought a great fight. This fight will undoubtedly affect Kovalev mentally but it might actually be for the better as I feel he had become a bit complacent and stopped trying to improve. Now he must know he HAS to improve if he wants to retake his spot at the top of the division.

The biggest mental damage to Kovalev's career from this fight imo will not be to Kovalev himself personally but the huge mental boost tonevery single one of his future opponents who have now seen his aura of invincibility shattered and will no longer have that "undefeated killer big bad ko man" fear of Kovalev.

Kovalev has imo proved himself as a solid champion. His quest to be known as truly great champion begins now and at a new, much harder difficulty level.

                    yep, me too

that is the very definition of P4P..... being able to beat a bigger (and possibly stronger) opponent, because you are better

I think that Kovalev is a beast

a real daunting proposition, for anyone

I really hope he gets into a settled camp with people he trusts

Stevenson/Kovalev is the best fight to be made right now imho

I hope Stevenson isn't slipping, I missed his last fight, but heard a lot of the comments etc
