You still haven't answered my question: If Ward's blackness is the reason he beat Kovalev, then shouldn't Pascal have beaten Kovalev? He's obviously much blacker than Ward. And what about all the other black fighters Kovalev faced?

White people view him as that, in the Black community he is viewed as mixed race. It's all cultural relevancy.

In the West Indies or Latin America nobody that looks like Ward is viewed as Black, in my maternal ancestors country they have about half dozen terms for mixed race European and African people.
