Kovalev's assistant trainer seemed to have a similar reaction, blaming Kovalev for his own mistakes. He also took it a step further, adding, "Kovalev is just a puncher. He ain't no thinker."
I get that but ultimately he was responsible for having his fighter prepared to win the fight. He knew Kov had problems dealing with a body attack. He needed to address it by constructing a plan to take that offense away from Ward.
True but how do we know he didn't do that and Kovalev didn't listen? He's admitted he trains himself. Abel Sanchez and JDJ said Kovalev doesn't listen. I think JDJ is just there for the check and he doesn't care because Kovalev doesn't listen.
