I was with Gerald in training camp in 1988.. I NEVER got the impression he was a thug or a bad guy at all

And even if he was, he doesnt deserve what he got, as others have said. Having said that, Benn obviously had no idea what would become of the situation as he was trying to knock the guy out, so blame doesnt fall on him either I dont believe... It was a rare case, but one which had to fall on somebody, because with this sport is the inevitable scenario that someone is going to get hurt. Nobody wants it to be themselves, but it just turned out that way for Gerald. I know Benn and Eubank both had a load of remorse for what they did in their respective fights with McClellan and Watson, so that is something.

Any proof of that animal thing? I have never heard of that. Any way, it doesn't matter, he didn't deserve that. I would have rather been killed in the ring than come out like he did. That was a sad fight.
