mccellan was a fighter and a damn good one too,
he knew the risks of stepping into the ring like any fighter does.
but i think the most telling part of the video is when they mention roy,
altough he would help support him financially he would not visit him.
well not untill he retires.
is this because gerald represents the ugly side of boxing!
where the true risks of the sport we love are all too prominent.
secondary boxing fans have a tendency to forget or turn a blind eye because they dont want to see the true risks that fighters take.
this is why you will always get some idiot saying"he got what he deserved" or some **** to the same effect.
because to them it's just a topic of conversation for a week.
i think these times are what separates your run of the mill fan,
from the true boxing community.
i truly feel for gerald and his family especially his three children,
nobody deserves what happened to him.
i mean was he a pedophile,rapist or a murderer.......NO!!!
he was a man trying to earn a living in the toughest business there is.
i personally have donated to the estate,
not alot; and not out of guilt either but out of respect for a man who put his life on the line for our entertainment.

never forget the fallen soldiers because they are the true heroes!!!!

McClellan wudnt be in the position he is now if the referee didn't give Benn a 14 count in the first round.....

Exactly the Ref is to blame for what happened, it was a very nationalist fight, it would never happen in the U.S., sorry. We have the 14 count when Benn was knocked out the ring and 10 unpenalized punches to the back of the head, some were multiple. Under normal circumstances Benn would have lost easily. The fight messed Benn up though, he lost 3 of his last 4 fights and retired.

While Jones loves his ****fighting, stories abound about how McClellan would do absolutely crazy $h** like the time he (allegedly) took out his gun and shot a dog that was beating his own dog in a fight ( fight that Gerald had asked for and set up), and then threatened to blow out the owner's brains right then and there as well. I'm not condoning ****fighting or dog fights, but there's rules and a code to follow. And breaking the rules is one thing, but using your gun to kill and threaten is, well, kinda psycho.

But who knows, maybe they were just stories...
