Why didn't they give Kovalev 5 minutes to recover?

Weeks could have given Kovalev an 8 count. The ropes were holding him up. But nope, let us make america great again.

Low or borderline kovalev was going down. Tony Weeks saved kovalev another round or two from a beating.

Because in real time it wasn't seen as a low blow. And although I agree on replay that last blow looked slightly low, it's still wasn't low enough to be egregious and warrant 5 minutes for recovery. And another thing, Ward crushed him with shots to the gut that weren't even close to low, that's what caused Kovalev to double over. That last shot was borderline and was nowhere near his groin.

Ward beat Kovalev, cleanly. Really impressive fight by Andre. Kovalev has had a great career, but he ran into someone better. Ward is the best fighter in the planet right now.
