I feel like if Kovalev had done that to Ward, they would've let him recover.

37:30 Joe Cortez notices the low blow by Calzaghe, determines that it was probably unintentional. Instead of deducting a point, he gives Bernard Hopkins time to recover.

Weeks only acknowledged one low blow in the fight that I recall, so he can't give 5 mins when he's counting them as legal blows

However, I do think the ref in the Rigondeaux fight could have sorted that mess by giving Flores 5 mins

Dude, kovalev was going down regardless. Kovalev lost the first fight clearly & he lost this one even MORE clear.

Because they happened because Kovalev was looking for a way out. And they happened because he wasn't following the Cardinals rule of boxing, "protect yourself at all times." It's that's simple. Kovalev hadn't really thrown a punch in over a minute, he was complaining about legal punches and his body language is horrible. That's not Wards fault. Ward had let up off him numerous times. And he did nothing.

Yeah, I mean I think Ward would've gone on to win.

I just think the ref should've called time out and then let the fight continue after a short break. It would've been a better victory for Ward that way.

Weeks didn't do his job. I'm not saying Kovalev would have won. Very unsatisfying finish to a good fight. Paulie was right on with his comments.

Nah, it would of been a worse ending for kovalev. Tony Weeks saved him....
