He had no defence, he was standing up in fetal position, he was not answering the hits, he came from a crushing right hand on his chin, being wobbled... I didnt like the stopage, but kovalev should thank the referee for sparing him a brutal KO.

If the only thing stopping a fighter being on the ground then he is ON the ground - that's how I understand it. If he is on the ground he needs to be given a ten count to see if he can get back up and continue. This is not rocket science.

Kovalev didnt look fierce as he did at the first fight. I knew Andre Ward was going to break him down from the first body shot that landed. Kovalev was starting to gas after those early body shots, and was looking for excuses for a wuick break. The refree saved his life after he wasn't defending himself. He was defeated before the referee stepped in.
