When Kovalev started turning around and walking away in the 7th, Weeks should have given him a standing 8 count and asked if he wanted to continue. Ward broke Kovalev physically and mentally.

Time for Ward to get his due, he's an all time great. What he did at 168 was incredible, then he went up in weight to break the best guy at 175. That's an all time fighter right there.

No standing 8 count allowed in Nevada. He should've given him a warning.

yeah apparantly all these guys can see into the future. i didnt realise fighters could never recover from one bad round? One big shot from ward and its suddenly 'kovalev was done, he was gonna get stopped'. he wasnt on the verge of going down from the right hand, it was a big shot but he took it. i think the 3 punches to the bollocks had more to do with it.

look at the face doe.... from the same people that said you can't tell by his face that wart was surprised when he got the nod in the first fight, now all of the sudden you can tell what's going on in someone's head by looking at them

But at the same time you're just as bad because all you talked about was Ward's facial reaction but now you're ignoring Kovalev's.

kovalev and wart both looked the same to me last night, i don't get this whole "he was done, looking for a way out" thing is coming from, maybe from people trying to justify it. but to me they both look the same, wart was also breathing with his mouth open. plus he was landing low since round 1. are you gonna tell me that kovalev was already looking for a way out after just a few minutes? this was all part of the gameplan

I see both sides of the argument. But the fact of the matter is that Kova was holding on for dear life. When that didn't work, he ended up on the ropes, taking punches and not defending himself or firing back.

In the spirit of the rule, the guy was defenseless at that point, which is why it was stopped. If those were head shots, would ANYBODY be complaining about the stoppage??

Go rewatch the fight. He was breathing heavy in his corner after the second round.

I will check it out! But he did slow EARLIER than the last fight after using the "over-trained" excuse
