Kovalev gassed out then was devastated by that big shot and quit bent over stopped throwing shots. If the ref let's it continue ward is getting a highlight reel knockout. Kovalev was done he wasn't surving and ward had already taken control of the fight on his way to at worst a decision. Ward is the better fight is that simple.
Can both sides be honest with themselves here?

Ward was breaking him no doubt about that. YES some shots went low ABSOLUTELY but was that the sole reason why Ward was having success ABSOLUTELY NOT! Ward loaded up on that right hand and it landed big and Kovalev was HURT and was looking to try and get away to Recover!Last edited by sicko; 06-18-2017, 01:07 AM.Comment

The shots Ward hurt Kovalev were both legal, the body shot on the belt and the right hand to the head.
The final blows were low but really had no effect on the stoppage, Kovalev was not defending himself. It was going to end with him on the canvas either way.Comment

I don't think it's a naive way to look at it. The writing was on the wall even before the 8th. He was slowing down round by round, if he did go 12 he was going to end with an empty tank like last time.
I'm a fan of Kov but for whatever reason he just doesn't seem built for 12. He looked sluggish toward the end of the Chilemba fight, he looked terrible at the end of the Ward 1 and he was fading again here.Comment
