It pretty much totally overshadowed Ward Kovalev and it's going to hurt the PPV for Canelo GGG. I don't know how anyone think that's a good thing.

We do need to stop with this "real boxing fans" crap. People KNOW it's a mismatch. Stop acting like they are being duped. They are still paying for the bout for its entertainment value.

The reason why the announcement of this fight is stealing the spotlight from upcoming matches is because of the personality and marketability of Mayweather and McGregor. No one care about Ward and Kovalev because the promotion sucks and both of them are severely lacking a marketable personality. Canelo against Golovkin will do better but they suffer the same lack of charisma. I'm sorry but the roll out for Canelo/Golovkin looked like someone forced them to stand together. Mayweather is showing how to build up a fight and all some people can do is complain about it. Who care if the fight is nothing but a money grabbing spectacle.

Mayweather is 40 years old and has been retired for about two years. People taunted him about the McGregor fight for at least a year. Now that he decides to call McGregor's bluff and make some money in the process people are complaining. Boxing fans whine about everything.........mainly out of jealousy.

Boycotts don't work because not enough people are in on the boycott to hurt the amount of money the fight makes so nobody even notices the boycott. What is the point of a boycott? The fight will still happen and any harm it does to boxing will still happen. A better reason not to buy the fight is that it's a total mismatch and not worth the money. Everybody with cabal tv who pays for the main boxing channels can watch it free in a week anyway. I will watch and enjoy this circus act for free. The only harm I see coming to boxing is if Mayweather fails to completely dominate and destroy Conor.I am sure he will do that. If Conor does well at all it makes boxing look weaker and MMA look stronger. In this fight Mayweather represents boxing. Toney represented boxing when he was completely dominated and defeated in seconds in his UFC fight under their rules. Mayweather needs to beat Conor just as easily under boxing rules or boxing loses face to the UFC again.
