Deontay Wilder arrested, charged with marijuana possession



WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was arrested and charged with second degree marijuana possession yesterday in his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Wilder would shortly thereafter be released on $1,000 bail.

Wilder’s attorney, Paul Patterson, told the Tuscaloosa News that the marijuana found in Wilder’s Cadillac Escalade during a traffic stop for a tinted windows violation did not belong to his client, saying Wilder had been out of town and suggesting that he let a friend use the vehicle while he was away.

“Deontay has been out-of-state for several days,” he said. “He returned home today from Georgia driving his Rolls Royce and selected his Cadillac Escalade from his fleet of vehicles to run errands.”

“A small amount of marijuana was detected in the vehicle and Officer Roach arrested Mr. Wilder for misdemeanor possession,” he said.
Wilder hasn’t fought since stopping Gerald Washington in February and doesn’t have his next fight scheduled at this time.

It's in all likelihood because the government hasn't found a way to tax you on it. As soon as they do though it will miraculously become legal.
