Comments Thread For: Sergey Kovalev Told To Punish Andre Ward's Body, Says Jackson

Heading into their rematch with IBF, WBA, WBO light heavyweight champion Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KOs), former belt-holder Sergey Kovalev (30-1, 26 KOs) - who bitterly disagrees with the verdict rendered back in November during their first fight - and his team may considered investing more downstairs to the body of Ward.

I don't think this is a good move for Kovalev, as i think Ward is the better body puncher and? When Kovalev throws short inside punches his power decreases! Kovalev just needs to fight exactly the same fight as his first performance against Ward! (And just make sure that his gas tank does not run out etc!).

He has to get close to do that...leaving his own kidneys there to be crushed.

        Ward can take it

        Kovalev can't.

Oh dear. Wrong advice from Jackson here. If you think Kov can hang with Ward using these tactics you're f@cked.

Also, Kov seems to now be admitting he lost the first fight?

Kovalev simply says that his sharpness and energy dropped in the second half. He performed less well in the second half but still did better than Ward.

Kov more effective at long range and mid range. If he can successfully add the inside game he can be even more dangerous. But I doubt he will learn that in just one training camp.

You mean close enough like how he dropped ward twice last fight? that close? And whens the last time ward crushed somebody? LMAO...He clinches and headbutts to a boring 12 round decision every fight

All he had was the knock down, that's it. Ward gave that boy Problems.

All he had was the knockdown? He threw more punches, he landed more punches, and he threw the harder shots. If all he had was the knockdown, then what exactly did Ward have?
