All he had was the knockdown? He threw more punches, he landed more punches, and he threw the harder shots. If all he had was the knockdown, then what exactly did Ward have?
"You know it's good that he's believing himself right now, that he's got the key for me, but he didn't get the key. He won two rounds against me as empty Kovalev, I remember I was like a heavy bag. Just like a fighter who came in the boxing gym like one month ago. And he's like right now, 'oh yeah I beat the Kovalev, but he won with empty Kovalev'.
Kovalev is built for range. He is pretty damn skinny for a LHW, but has the muscle where it counts (not "glamour mucles"). It's an efficient build for his style. It's the technique in his straight shots (like his powerful jab & monster straight right) that can carry devastating power from the ground up because of his build. It'll be difficult to punish Ward's body enough to make him lower his guard IMO. This should be interesting. May the best fighter win!
Rare is the fighter who fights great inside and out. Kovalev has no inside game if he stays inside instead of using jab he is playing into wards strength
