he has to win or we'll be the laughing stock of UFC fans for years
What happens to Floyd's legacy if McGregor beats him?

No one's gonna become the guy just because they beat the guy who beat the guy. Chain logic like that never works. Plus, an MMA fighter like Conor coming in and defeating Floyd is such an unprecedented event that nothing will ever be able to take it away, no matter what other boxer can beat him. I mean, I think we can all agree that Floyd himself would beat him at boxing nine times out of ten, but that wouldn't matter as long as McGregor could pull out the W when it mattered.LOL but yea I don't really disagree with anything you're speculating on.
I actually feel like the best thing for boxing WOULD be Floyd losing. I said the same thing about the Manny fight to. "The bad guy" finally losing is what most boxing fans wanna see. To some guy from the Philippines or to some MMA guy from Ireland don't really matter to fans I don't believe.
And I think a Conor W just ensures he fights again vs Manny, Terence Crawford, Errol Spence or Keith Thurman & gets beat by that guy & getting that "demi-god" power right back into boxing since Conor's legacy in boxing will have greatly risen & fallen right back into boxing.
If the latter 3 names is the guy who beat the guy who beat Floyd he's pretty much gonna be the next guy moving forward into boxings future.
I don't even think Dana would let him, anyway. He's not gonna just let his top star fool around in boxing forever without him finishing up his contract with him first (he currently has four fights left.) He's making an exception for Mayweather, but that's it.Comment

Yeah, I'm not in disagreement with you either. I didn't think badly of Ali losing to Berwick or Tyson to McBride. It's only that Floyd was still pretty good at 39 so losing at 40 to a guy in he's first fight will be damaging. And on a personal note I'm gonna have to hear a lot of crap from my cousin who thinks MMA is better than boxing in every way. Fingers crossed Floyd does him in one.Well yea I'm not disagreeing with any of that or saying anything that would go against any of that. I'm not saying a L doesn't damage ones legacy at all. A L effects you as a boxer for sure. I'm saying the things one has done previous to that L don't get erased & the older you are when that L comes or the potential circumstances of that L impact things as well. A guy losing in his prime is gonna be more impactful in a negative way to a fighter who loses a fight when he's young or old. A guy losing a controversial decision or via some weird situation a ref mishandled isn't gonna be as negatively felt to your legacy then if you get whitewashed 0-12 or KO'd in 3 rounds after getting dropped 4 times.
I've only heard of that pedo guy in passing & don't know his work or rep in anyway whatsoever so I can't really comment on it, but maybe rubbing up on kids is one of the lines crossed where images & legacies can be corrupted equally idk. I just know a 40 year old boxer losing a fight isn't gonna f#ck THAT much with what he did at 21, 26, 31 & later in his career. This is a young mans game & Cosby in 1983 was more funny than maybe anyone in the world & however many ladies he ****d can't change that fact.Comment

Not a dam thing. Mayweather is a 40 year old with an ATG track record that will not suddenly be erased.
But on the other hand, Boxing would take a big L. MMA fans would never let us live that down.Comment

If Conor beats Floyd he's the guy. Conor's already a huge name in his own right. This wouldn't be some virtual unknown, but talented guy like Zahir Raheem beating Erik Morales when Erik was still doing PPV's type thing. This IS Manny beating Floyd. Or one could argue its bigger than that cuz Conor is hotter then Manny was by the time of the fight with Floyd. This is some next level sh^t thats altering the way people look at combat sports & Conor will be the high man on the hill. This would be a torch passing fight for sure & there would be massive demand for Conor to box again even if he wouldn't be considered the #1 guy at whatever weight this fight takes place at.No one's gonna become the guy just because they beat the guy who beat the guy. And if Conor wins he'll have so much power he'll be able to do whatever he wants. It'd be ****** for the UFC to fight him whatever he wanted to do at that point. They'd get a piece of the boxing money which is gonna be huge & a no risk thing for the UFC so its all found money + if they cross Conor there is always the legal route which I contend could put the UFC in a position where all their biggest names contracts could be voidable as I & more importantly many sports attorneys believe UFC contracts to be illegal. And thats not even getting into the Muhammad Ali Act out that Conor has if he choses to take it.Comment

If he wins, he's the guy that just pulled off an astronomical upset. He isn't gonna suddenly become the unbeatable boxer that everyone wants to prove they can beat (at least not in any serious manner.)If Conor beats Floyd he's the guy. The fact is, Conor is an MMA star, and I don't see Dana continuing to let him prod around in a whole 'other sport past the Floyd fight. It's not his sport, and he's gonna want him to come back to the octagon ASAP. Conor beating Floyd isn't gonna suddenly grant him the power to overcome being legally bind to a contract.Comment
