Any Boxer who ever quit because....

He was giving his opponent too severe a beaten. Boxing is a savage sport where sometimes the guy on the other side of the ring will not walk out the same way he walked in

But was there ever a time a fighter decided to call it a night because the ref or the corner of his opponent wouldn't stop the fight to save the fighters life.

Bonus Question: How would you as a fan feel about something like this?

Not really quit but we saw Pacquiao's reaction when he was ****ing on Margarito.

I also believe Lara let Trout off the hook (see what I did there?). Lara takes the family stuff real serious (if you follow him you would know) and I think he saw Trout's kids' reactions.

Ali was one who backed off a number of times when he outclassed and was adminstering a beating. I remember a fight when he waved over the referee. RJJ too once looked at the referee with a look of "want me to continue?"

Foreman said he realised Ali was not only a great champion but a great human being when he knocked him down and could have easily hit George again on the way down but held off.

Yep, Pacquiao's eyes were full of sympathy. Also, don't forget Wlad, he felt sorry for AJ and helped him back into the fight - didn't want to embarrass him in front of his home crowd. Both great human beings.

How messed up would it be that in an act of compassion a fighter leaves himself open while going to the body, gets countered and loses the fight by KO?

I can see how knowing the opponents kids are in the crowd would deter you from finishing off a fighter in a fight your winning by a landslide.

Only time I can recall was when Pac was abusing Margarito and looking over at the ref with that look like..."are you going to stop this or what!?"
